I was very fortunate to have taken Pilates Lessons from Agi Makarewicz. I took about 8-12 lessons altogether with Agi last summer/ fall and then again in the winter in Miami Beach. It was my first time doing Pilates reformer and the Cadillac, also the first time in many years I had done any Pilates at all. First of all, I felt an immense commitment and dedication from her for my overall wellbeing, this aspect was very important because it opened up a line of trust and communication that is so necessary between a teacher and a student. I understood very quickly that she was very knowledgeable about Pilates, her attention to the details, the form etc. gave me great confidence in her abilities. She also knew what best to do for my body and the fact that she sincerely cared made a big difference. My flexibility and strength have improved a lot. Agi is now in the UK and I must say, I miss her but most importantly, I have continued with my Pilates Classes. I have become a member of the same studio where I met her. My lessons with Agi inspired me to continue, I have improved so much, I wish she could see me. Based on my experience, I would highly recommend her.
Doing Pilates with Agi was a life changing decision. Before Pilates, I worked out because I wanted to look good, but after I started doing Pilates with Agi, things changed. I looked forward to each class and I could see my body changing every week. Agi is the most committed and passionated professional I have ever met. It's easy to see how much she loves Pilates and this translates to each lesson. She gives 100% to each class she teaches, inspiring and motivating us to do better.
If anyone is thinking of taking up Pilates I cannot recommend Agi at Belsize Health more. She has a lovely studio with a state of the art equipment to ensure you get the exercises completely right and she is absolutely brilliant. I am a novice and in 3 sessions I can feel muscles in places I didn't know existed. She has that hard to achieve balance in an instructor of being completely focused and professional yet very calming and friendly. If you are thinking of taking up Pilates for whatever reason you'd be lucky to catch her.
I have an aggressive work out regime for someone over 50 and I have found that I injure myself quite frequently - I decided to try Pilates with a view to maintaining my fitness regime whilst learning how to focus on technique to prevent the recurrent problems. I have found with the precise body learning techniques taught so wonderfully by Agi at Agile Pilates how to avoid repetitive strains
